Dick Freeman, among those who pioneered industrial development in South Hall, has died at the age of 100. Freeman died Tuesday, March 11.
A native of Jamestown, N.Y., Freeman worked for TRW in Jamestown until 1975 and then he led a team to build and operate a new ball bearing plant in Gainesville. He finished his career after building and operating the Barbe America plant in Gainesville.
He served his Jamestown and Gainesville communities as a Past-President of the Rotary Club of Gainesville, member of the Jamestown Rotary Club, United Way campaign, the Gainesville (now Greater Hall) Chamber of Commerce Board and the Chattahoochee Country Club Greens Committee.
