A Demorest man remains in the county jail in Toccoa, more than a week after his arrest on child sex charges.
STEPHENS CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (SCSO) FACEBOOK POST:
(September 29)…deputies conducted a traffic stop…on Highway 123 near Letourneau Drive in Toccoa.
During the stop, deputies confirmed that the male driver, identified as 38-year-old Jonathan Scott Barker of Demorest, had active warrants out of Stephens County. Barker was placed under arrest and transported to the Stephens County Jail without incident.
Warrants (had been) issued for Barker’s arrest…September 25…following an investigation into a report of alleged sexual misconduct with a minor.
Earlier that week, an individual filed a report with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office concerning inappropriate text messaging and contact with Barker. After an…investigation including forensic interviews, enough probable cause was found for deputies to make an arrest.
Barker remains in jail for the following charges: Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, Child Molestation, Sexual Battery Against Child Under 16, Grooming of a Minor, and Using Computer Service to Seduce, Solicit, Lure or Entice Child to Commit Illegal Act (Felony)….”
