Dedication of new school; Oakwood tax rate hearing, adoption; Where’s the beef!?

*A ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony are planned later this month for Hall County’s new Sandra Dunagan Deal Elementary School. They will be held starting at 5:00 August 26 in the school gym. The first classes at the school were held a week ago at the start of the county’s new school year.

*Two public hearings on the city’s new tax rate are planned by the Oakwood City Council Monday. The first will be held at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by first reading of the tax rate. The second hearing starts at 7:00 p.m. followed by the second and final reading of the tax rate and adoption of it.

*Under the watchful eye of Georgia Department of Agriculture inspectors, Hall County students, their teacher, and a community expert worked up their first side of beef recently at the county school system’s new Meat Science Center.
