The applicant whose proposal for a data center in South Hall had been met with a lot of citizen opposition withdrew the request for a special use permit for the facility prior to Thursday night’s Hall County Commission meeting.
However, left on the table was a request to rezone the Candler Road property from Planned Industrial Development to Light Industrial, which the commission approved.
Public opinion slanted heavily against rezoning to accommodate the data center, and many in the standing-room-only crowd at the meeting took to the podium (see picture) to speak against it.
