A former officer with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) was fatally injured while serving as a volunteer in assisting with Cumming Christmas parade traffic control Saturday night.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) announced Robert Muth’s passing in a news release that was issued Sunday morning.

“He was injured when he was struck by a vehicle and was immediately transported to North Fulton Hospital. Sunday morning, surrounded by family members, Muth passed away…
Muth was a retired Sergeant with the Boca Raton, Florida Police Department, having served 21 years in law enforcement.
Following his retirement, Muth continued his commitment to public service as a Sheriff’s Office Bluecoat security officer assigned to the Judicial Operations Division from January 2022 until April 2024. He then became a volunteer for FCSO, assisting the Citizens Helping in Policing or CHIP’s Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, and by faithfully supporting agency operations through the interoffice communications needs…”
The accident is being investigated by Cumming Police which said in its own news release that charges will be filed and that the accident happened about 7:20.
