Couch sworn in; Longtime school supt. retiring

*Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch is among the latest local public officials sworn in last week in advance of a term in office that begins Jan. 1. The county’s probate judge, Patty Walters, did the honors in the courtroom in the courthouse annex. *After a career in education spanning 33 years, Buford Schools Supt Melanie Reed is retiring. She’s stepping down at the end of the current school year. Reed has been with Buford schools for 31 years.
