Concentrated patrol in Forsyth nabs nearly 50 violators of ‘hands-free’ law

On Friday, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Traffic Unit, H.E.A.T. Unit, Crime Reduction Unit and state troopers conducted a traffic detail called, ‘Evening Blitz’ focusing on distracted driving. The target areas were Buford Highway, Peachtree Parkway and Bethelview Road.  

During this roughly two-hour detail, deputies and troopers stopped 125 vehicles with drivers who were on their cell phones or distracted in other ways.  Below are the stats from the operation:

48 hands-free citations 

 7 seat belt citations

11 misc. citations

37 written warnings

1 arrest for no license

“This is the first of several traffic operations that will be conducted”, the sheriff’s office said.  “Additionally, our H.E.A.T.
