A Cold Weather Advisory, for wind chills of -5 to +5 in north Georgia, has been posted for most of the state through 8:00 Tuesday morning.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE (NWS) ADVISORY:
“COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO
9 AM EST TUESDAY…
* WHAT…Very cold wind chills from 5 below to 5 above across much of
north Georgia and 5 to 15 degrees across central Georgia.
* WHERE…Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, northwest, southeast, and west central Georgia.
* WHEN…From 8 PM this evening to 9 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Very cold wind chills from 5 below to 5 above zero in
north Georgia and 5 to 15 above in central Georgia are expected.
Avoid prolonged exposure if possible and have a safe heating
source, particularly for those who may still be experiencing power
outages.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.”
