Wind chills with a bite; Cold Weather Advisory

6:00 A.M. MONDAY UPDATE:

Just as forecasters had been warning, wind chills across north Georgia this morning are, for the most part, in the teens. It was 13 at the Gainesville airport at 6:00, pushed down by winds gusting to 32 mph and a temperature of 26. Those winds Sunday peaked at 40 mph at mid-afternoon and more of the same is expected today with a high of 40. Yesterday’s high was 55 but that was just after midnight with temperatures falling throughout the day.

11:45 P.M. SUNDAY. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE (NWS) UPDATE:

“COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 10 AM EST MONDAY…

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills ranging from 10 degrees above zero to a few
degrees below zero expected.

* WHERE…Portions of central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, southeast, and west central Georgia.

* IMPACTS…Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.Less
