Clyde, McCormick, Warnock react to U.S. attack on Venezuela

“Bold, successful and effective mission.” “A bold and necessary decision.” “It’s a betrayal and I won’t stand for it.”

Congressional reaction to the U.S. attack on Venezuela early Saturday morning broke, as you might expect, pretty much along party lines – with most Republicans praising President Trump and the outcome of the mission and Democrats criticizing it.

“God bless President Trump and our brave military for Operation Absolute Resolve,” 9th District Congressman Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) whose district includes part of Hall County said on X. “This bold, successful, and effective mission protects American lives and holds Socialist Dictator and narco-terrorist Nicolas Maduro accountable. PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.”

“This morning, the United States military carried out a decisive, large-scale operation to capture and extract Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Nicolás Maduro has long run a ruthless narcoterrorist regime that has fueled the flow of deadly drugs into the United States and caused the deaths of millions of Americans,” said 7th District Congressman Rich McCormick (R-Suwanee) whose district also includes part of Hall County. “President Trump continues to put America first, and this military action was a bold and necessary decision to protect American lives and defend our national security. I am incredibly proud of the bravery and courage of our United States soldiers who carried out this mission perfectly. Most importantly, the people of Venezuela will be in a much better position to succeed and thrive. Their improved relationship with the United States will benefit them and us for generations to come.”

But Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) took a dim view of what happened. “This President promised Georgians no more forever wars. This is a slap in the face to the hardworking people who voted for him on the promise of peace. It’s a betrayal and I won’t stand for it. Americans are sick and tired of endless war, regime change, and failed attempts to ‘run’ foreign nations. I am demanding answers & accountability.”
