Clyde, McCormick voted for Johnson who was narrowly reelected House speaker Friday

(SRN NEWS/AP/97.5 GLORY FM) – With the help of the two congressmen who represent Hall County, House Speaker Mike Johnson was narrowly reelected to the post Friday. The Louisiana Republican has the support of President-elect Donald Trump and House Republicans decided on Friday to reelect him to his post with just one holdout.

Texas Rep. Keith Self, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie and South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman all voted against Johnson during the initial vote. Self and Norman switched their vote to Johnson after speaking with him away from cameras. Far-right Republicans have at times grown frustrated with Johnson’s leadership and are prone to demanding concessions when their votes become essential.

While he was one of those voting for Johnson, Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County) warned he will be closely watching his performance. “While I still have concerns about his leadership, I voted for Speaker Johnson,” Clyde posted on X. “My focus is—and always has been—successfully delivering President Trump’s agenda. My conservative colleagues and I will hold the Speaker accountable to rescue our great country.”

Rich McCormick (R-Suwanee), the other member of Congress who represents Hall County, also took to X with his reaction. “Looking forward to getting things done for the people of America in the 119th Congress. Congratulations, @SpeakerJohnson!”
