There were 159 building permits issued by the City of Gainesville last month for work expected to total $35.6 million.
Of that amount, 19 were for new single-family houses worth $4.6 million. In all, residential permits of all kinds numbered 56 for $4.8 million.
New commercial construction accounted for $30 million from six permits. The total number of commercial permits of all kinds was 82.
