Christmas Week thieves at work

Call them the Grinches that stole Christmas Week.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a couple thefts reported between Christmas Eve and Monday, resulting in reported losses totaling nearly $8,000.

HCSO NARRATIVES:

“(In one instance), a deputy responded to a construction site (in the 4500 block of Winder Highway) to take a report about stolen cable. The theft is believed to have occurred between Christmas Eve and Dec. 29, when the missing cable was discovered. A total of 175 feet of cable was stolen from three different welding machines. Total value for the stolen property was estimated at $5,000.

“(In the second case, a complainant reported two chainsaws had been stolen from a shop on his property (in the 4600 block of Cagle Road in Lula). Estimated value of the equipment $2,700.”
