One person has been arrested in connection with a Christmas Eve murder at a Gainesville homeless camp.
Gainesville Police said late Tuesday night that shortly before 4:00 a.m. they got a call about a shooting at the camp on Dorsey Street. Two people had been shot and the suspect had left the scene.
GAINESVILLE POLICE NEWS RELEASE:
“One victim, Ashley Marie Hill of Gainesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, 36-year-old Marcus Robinson of Gainesville, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
With the help of witnesses and other occupants of the camp police were able to quickly identify Demetrius Few, 37, of Gainesville, as the suspect.
Shortly after the shooting, Gainesville Police Officers and Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies located Few in the area and took him into custody. Investigators worked throughout the day to develop the case and locate evidence.
Few has been charged with Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault and is being held at the Hall County Jail. Further charges are forthcoming, and the case remains under investigation.”
