Christmas Day Habersham police chase ends in Hall Co.

A Habersham County deputy sheriff used the PIT Maneuver on Christmas morning to safely bring a high-speed chase to an end inside Hall County.

The deputy, patrolling Ga. 365, recorded a pickup traveling southbound at
102 mph just before 8:45 a.m. and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Yonah Post Road. The driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit with a deputy.

The officer used the PIT near Athens Street in Lula, resulting in the truck overturning,
coming to rest back upright on its wheels.

The driver, 31-year-old Pratik Paul of West New York, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude. He was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville, where he was booked on the charges.

Paul was released from jail later Christmas Day after posting a $2,500 bond.
