Chattahoochee Golf Club (CGC) will close for a few days as a potentially damaging cold front moves into Hall County.
In preparation for below-freezing temperatures and a chance of precipitation, CGC staff will cover the greens first thing Thursday and the course will remain closed through at least Monday.
“As of today (Jan. 14), the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts the low for next Tuesday, Jan. 20, will be 27 degrees. If that number plummets any further, there’s a chance the greens will remain covered through Tuesday morning until temperatures warm slightly,” said Gainesville Public Relations Director Christina Santee-Moss. “This schedule, as always this time of year, is fully dependent on Mother Nature.”
As of Wednesday, Jan. 14, the NWS predicted below-freezing temperatures starting that evening, with a low of 23 degrees Thursday (high of 36 degrees) — a trend continuing Saturday (low 28/high 51), Sunday (low 25/high 39), Monday (low 23/high 47) and Tuesday (low 27/high 44).
“The NWS is also showing a chance of precipitation over the weekend, which always has the potential to freeze under the right conditions,” Santee-Moss said.
The NWS predicted temperatures would start climbing back into the 40s (lows) and 50s (highs) by midweek.
Despite the frosty temps, the driving range will remain open during this time. Chattahoochee Grill will also remain open to the public: chattahoocheegrill.com
