Cadaver dogs join search for possible drowning victim

Cadaver dogs have joined the search in Lake Lanier for a 27-year-old man who is missing and presumed drowned.

State Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon said Tuesday the Richland County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina “volunteered to bring their cadaver dogs” to assist in the search. But, as of mid-afternoon Tuesday the search was continuing.

The man disappeared Saturday after jumping from a boat in the Van Pugh Park area, according to McKinnon.

He’s been identified as Leonardo Martinez of Buford.
