Barrow County School System (BCSS) officials say a teacher and student at Hammon Morris Middle School found a bullet on a classroom floor Wednesday.
“A small bullet was on the floor of a classroom just minutes before dismissal today,” according to a statement from the school district. “Depending on the outcome of that investigation, we will strictly follow our discipline code of conduct which outlines behavior expectations and consequences.”
The school resource officer is investigating the matter.
Almost a year ago two teachers and two students were killed during a mass shooting at the system’s Apalachee High School and since that time metal detectors have been installed at a number of district’s schools.
