A Buford man is free on bond following his arrest last week by Hall County sheriff’s deputies on five charges, including kidnapping and battery of an unborn child, growing out of a domestic altercation at his home in the 3000 block of Bogan Springs Drive on Tuesday. Usan Ahmad Choudhry, 38, was arrested Thursday night.
HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“According to the initial investigation, Choudhry and the female victim, 34, had been arguing when Choudry assaulted her. He attempted to strangle her by placing his hands around her neck. He also dragged her from a bed, causing a knee injury. Additionally, Choudhry punched the victim, who is pregnant, in her stomach area.
Choudhry prevented the victim from leaving or calling for help by blocking the doorway to a laundry room and taking her phone and keys. When the victim escaped the home on foot, Choudhry pulled her back into the house.
Choudhry is charged with the following crimes.
- Aggravated battery under the Family Violence Act (felony)
- Aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (felony)
- Kidnapping (felony)
- False imprisonment (felony)
- Battery to unborn child (misdemeanor)
- Theft by taking (misdemeanor)
- Interfering with an emergency call (misdemeanor)
Hall County Fire Rescue checked the victim (Thursday) after the report was filed with deputies. She refused treatment.
Choudhry was booked into the Hall County Jail following his arrest. He was released on Saturday afternoon on $47,600 bond.”
A sheriff’s department spokesman said release of information on the incident was delayed until Wednesday because paperwork had not been completed because of the snowstorm that struck the area the day after the arrest.
