Brother, sister bodies found near Hall-Gwinnett line; deaths ruled double-homicide

GWINNETT POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

The bodies were found by a passer Sunday night about 7:30 near the I-985/I-85 split.

The medical examiner’s office has since ruled that they died of gunshot wounds and that their deaths were the result of a double-homicide.

The woman has been identified as Maria Rosaria Montes Dorantes, 23, and the male victim is her brother, Juan Angel Montes, 16.

In 2005, he was presented with the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association’s President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism and in 2019 was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
