Both major Gville animal shelters now certified ‘no kill’

“We’re incredibly honored to be recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for our life-saving efforts in 2024!” begins the big announcement posted over weekend on the Hall County Animal Shelter’s Facebook page,

“For the first time since opening our doors in 2009, Hall County Animal Shelter has achieved no-kill status — maintaining an impressive 92% save rate throughout the entire year.”

Earlier, this weekend, the Gainesville-based Humane Society of Northeast Georgia made a similar announcement. HSNEGA achieves No-Kill Status for ’24

“This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless dedication of our staff, the compassion of our volunteers and fosters, and the unwavering support of our community,” the Hall County announcement continue., “THANK YOU!”

Even with rising intake numbers this year, officials say they are hopeful and determined to keep pushing forward together in 2025 to maintain a 90%+ save rate. “Let’s keep saving lives — together!”
