Biker wrecks during chase, not injured but jailed

An 18-year-old motorcyclist led a state trooper on a North Hall chase Wednesday before wrecking his bike and being taken to the Hall County Jail, where he remained late Thursday morning in lieu of $8,950 bond while facing 13 charges.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE (SOME EDITING FOR CLARITY AND BREVITY):

“A Trooper was patrolling Dahlonega Highway near Dunlap Landing Road when he saw a dirtbike with no tag and the driver – later identified as Oscar David Sanchez-Lopez – not wearing a helmet.

The Trooper activated his emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver failed to stop and initiated a pursuit. The chase traveled down multiple rural roads before the biker turned onto Chestatee Road, left the right shoulder and struck a ditch, causing him to lose control and crash.

Sanchez-Lopez was not injured and was taken to jail.”
