Bicycle-pickup accident seriously injures two boys

Two pre-teen boys were seriously injured Tuesday night when the bicycle they were riding collided with a pickup in west Gainesville.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“Just before 6:55 p.m., deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to an accident on Green Hill Circle in Gainesville involving a bicycle and a pickup truck.

When deputies arrived they found two juvenile males, ages 10 and 7, suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision. Both boys were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The older child was then taken by air ambulance to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta…

The preliminary investigation by HCSO Traffic Unit investigators determined the boys were riding together on one bicycle on Shallowford Road traveling in the direction of Green Hill Circle. The pickup truck was traveling southbound on Green Hill Circle. The bicycle entered the intersection and struck the side of the truck. Both boys were ejected from the bicycle.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene of the accident.”

No condition updates on the boys were available late Wednesday morning.
