*Lt. Gov. Bert Jones will not face criminal charges in connection with an election interference case where former President Donald Trump and 18 allies were indicted, the AJC reports. Jones was suspected of acting as a fake elector on behalf of Trump. Pete Skandalakis, executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, on Friday ruled the then-Georgia senator had no criminal intent in his actions following the 2020 presidential election.
*Georgia Republicans in the state legislature are mulling their next move after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis blew off Friday’s state senate hearing on the Georgia election-interference case against former President Donald Trump. Willis’ attorney, former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, says his client “will not appear until there has been a judicial determination of the validity of the subpoena.”
*The University System of Georgia i(USG) is handing out more degrees than ever before. More than 76,500 were awarded in the last fiscal year. That represents a jump of nearly two percent from 2023 and a 40 percent rise from just over a dozen years ago. There’s also been a significant rise in enrollment at the system’s 26 institutions in the same time frame.
