A bench warrant was issued for a Forsyth County man who is accused of threatening a minor to send illicit images.
According to Forsyth County News, court records show that the warrant was issued for 44-year-old Yover Cotrina Vargas on June 17th while an arrest warrant was not issued. This comes after Vargas “was indicted by the Forsyth County Superior Court earlier this month on six counts of sexual exploitation of children.”
Cotrina Vargas is believed to have coerced a 10-year-old to “take digital pictures of an underage victim ‘in physical contact in an act of apparent sexual stimulation’ and other images taken in 2023.” It is also believed that he had images of the victim in February 2024.
The 44-year-old is accused of giving a cell phone to the minor and “‘demanding the child to send a photograph of herself with her chest area exposed,’ and threatening the victim.” according to court documents
The suspect was arrested in February 2024 “and was released weeks later after paying a $45,650 cash bond.”
Jail records indicate that in 2020, Cotrina Vargas was “indicted on one count of simple battery- family violence”, but this charge was dismissed after he completed “a pre-trial diversion program.”
