Barrow, Forsyth school threats

*Someone called in a threat to several schools in Barrow County Friday, including Apalachee High, less than a year after a mass shooting there that left four people dead and several wounded. The caller said there were bombs in each of the schools and that as they were evacuated someone would open fire on students, teachers and others leaving the schools. K9 teams were called in from several law enforcement agencies and after a “thorough” search of each school, the all-clear was sounded, according to Sheriff Judd Smith.

*Meanwhile, in Forsyth County a student at DeSana Middle School has been arrested after a bomb threat to that school that investigators also deem a hoax. A 10-year-old in Maine has also been implication in the incident. Sheriff Ron Freeman told the Forsyth County News it is time for parents and students to put an end to this “stupid foolishness.” There have been a rash of such incidents across Georgia since the Barrow County shooting last September.
