UPDATE: Terrified kids; Attack politically motivated?; Church vandalism, stolen tractor rampage; Plastics lawsuit

*Authorities are searching for suspects after a shooting sent children running for safety in south Georgia. Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock says the reward for information leading to arrests is now up to $2,000. WALB reports the agency released surveillance video showing children running for safety. Deputies say several shootings have raised concerns, especially with more young people out and about during the summer months. 

*An Uber driver was brutally attacked by masked men on Northside Parkway in Atlanta, who cut him 26 times and allegedly threatened his life due to his political beliefs. Cyrus Khorasani, who fled Iran 14 years ago, believes he was targeted for his activism against the Iranian regime. Fox 5 Atlanta reports the attackers drove alongside Khorasani’s car claiming something was wrong with his vehicle, then ambushed him, proceeding to beat and cut him.

*Douglas County investigators say Hayden Shadrix caused a lot of vandalizing damage to Gateway Church, then stole a John Deere tractor from an home nearby and ran over several fences and mailboxes before stopping. Shadrix is now behind bars facing many felony charges. No information has been released about a possible motive. He is being held without bond.  

*Georgia is joining a 17-state lawsuit against California’s new environmental packaging rules, which impose recycling requirements on items sold in the state. The lawsuit argues that these rules could increase prices nationwide as companies may opt to change packaging for consistency rather than creating separate options for California. Attorney General Chris Carr warned that the added costs could be passed to local stores and businesses.
