*Atlanta is facing a budget deficit of over $33 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. The shortfall is attributed to increased spending on public safety, employee pay raises, and unexpected costs. City officials are urging tighter budget controls to address the deficit and maintain financial stability. Fox 5 Atlanta reports that despite the financial challenge, council members are confident that corrective measures can be implemented.
*Upgrades to the Peach Pass, which had been planned by year’s end, have been postponed until after the holidays. Peach Pass had planned to introduce needed upgrades to its app and website which would have cut off access for users for five days. But instead, they’ll be planning for upgrades in the new year to give users more time to prepare.
*The future of Party City, which has many Georgia locations including Gainesville, is up in the air, as it reportedly plans to file for a second bankruptcy. The party supply retailer declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January of last year with around one-point-eight billion in debt. However, Bloomberg reports it continues to lose money.
