Atlanta-bound jet diverted; Dog fighting arrest; Suit over Charlie Kirk quote settled

*A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta was forced to divert to Indianapolis after the crew reported a possible lightning strike mid-flight. Fox 5 reports the plane landed safely Friday, with no injuries reported among the 180 passengers and crew on board. The flight originated in Chicago.

*A local, state and federal investigation in Crawford County has resulted in one arrest and the seizure of 23 dogs in connection with an alleged dog fighting operation. A Georgia Department of Agriculture news release says in addition to the dogs, authorities confiscated several guns, suspected marijuana, and suspected methamphetamine. In addition to the state agriculture department’s Law Enforcement Division (GDA-LE), the federal department of Agriculture and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office were involved.

*The Oglethorpe County School District has reached a $300,000 settlement of a lawsuit filed by a former teacher who was fired for posting on social media a quote from conservative activist Charlie Kirk not long after he was shot and killed last year. “‘I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. — Charlie Kirk,’” the post read. The AJC reports it did not include any commentary from the teacher, Michelle Mickens.
