The road was blocked for most of Friday morning until it could be cleared of the wreckage.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) first reported the accident, which block all northbound lanes of Athens Highway north of AL Mangum Road. Southbound traffic was delayed as well. HCSO reported at one time that “both live and dead chickens are scattered across the road.”
No word on the condition of the driver but at one point sheriff’s deputies reported that he was “being assessed” for injuries.
