Asbury Chapel, a Global Methodist Church in Gainesville, has sold its 758 Main Street property and purchased the former Beverly’s Ace Hardware property at 1963 Jesse Jewell Parkway.
“God has opened the door to a new chapter for Asbury Chapel,” Rev. Whit Martin said. “We have prayed and planned for this season. Our new facility will allow us to serve more families, launch new ministries, and deepen our roots in this community. This growth is not a product of programs or planning. It is the power of the Holy Spirit moving among a people who keep Christ first as a family.”
Asbury Chapel conducted its inaugural service on January 8, 2023, with 165 in attendance. The church located to its Main Street campus in May 2024 and has experienced steady growth, according to a news release, welcoming 216 members. “The pews filled and worship space reached capacity.”
The new facility will accommodate more in worship, expand ministries for children and youth, and allow for service and fellowship in ways the former location could not. Architectural and building plans are underway, and occupancy is expected next year.
“Our new location sits at the heart of a neighborhood surrounded by families, schools, and medical facilities — people who need the presence of a caring, Christ-centered community,” said Martin. “We intend to be exactly that. I invite every member, every friend, and every neighbor who has yet to walk through our doors to join us on this journey. The best of what God is doing through Asbury Chapel is still ahead — and we want you to be part of it.”
Beginning June 15, the Asbury administrative office will be operating out of the J Geyer Advertising building at 710 Washington Street. But the church will continue to hold services at the Main Street location until further notice.
