Animal cruelty charge; UNG schedules volunteer fairs

*A 23-year-old woman is free on $1,300 bond after being charged with animal cruelty Sunday for allegedly leaving a dog in a hot car. The car was at Lakeshore Mall, according to a Gainesville Police report. “Dog survived. Was turned over to animal control,” Lt. Kevin Holbrook said. “It is unclear how long the dog was in the car.”

*The University of North Georgia (UNG) will hold Community Engagement Fairs, formerly known as Volunteer Fairs, at its Dahlonega, Gainesville and Oconee campuses early in the fall semester, which began recently. Sixty organizations will provide 126 community engagement opportunities for UNG students, faculty and staff.
