Arctic blast on its way; Times eliminating Weekend Edition

*A cold front originating from the Arctic will bring much colder conditions to north and central Georgia early next week. “Widespread freezing conditions are looking increasingly likely late Monday night into early Tuesday morning,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said Wednesday. The advisory said it’s very likely Gainesville and other areas will see temperatures Tuesday morning in the mid-to-upper 20s.

*In a note to its readers on the front of Wednesday’s Midweek Edition, The Times announced that effective the week of Dec. 1, it will no longer print a Weekend Edition. The newspaper will be left with the Midweek Edition as the sole printed version. The announcement comes just weeks after the AJC said it will end printed editions altogether Dec. 31. Both emphasized their digital editions will continue.
