Apalachee shooting: Gun used was bought as a ‘gift’ for alleged shooter

(GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) – The father of the 14-year-old charged in the shooting at Apalachee High School Wednesday says he bought the gun “as a gift” for his son.

The 14-year-old shot and killed four people and injured nine others.

Colin Gray told investigators he bought the AR-15 style rifle as a holiday present for his son in December 2023, the same year the boy was investigated for making school shooting threats online.

The agency says Gray was arrested for “knowingly allowing” his son to have access to a weapon, and his charges are “directly connected” to the shooting.
