*Another Georgia Republican is leaving Congress. Barry Loudermilk announced yesterday he will not seek re-election this year after serving six-terms. The 62-year-old says he wishes to spend more dedicated time with his family.
*City officials in Social Circle say the rumored future ICE detention facility in their town is moving forward without the city’s consent or input. They said Wednesday they learned that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was in the process of purchasing a 1.2 million square-foot facility located at East Hightower Trail and Social Circle Parkway from PNK S1 LLC. City officials are opposed to the facility as are scores of other residents of the small Walton County town. (THE WALTON TRIBUNE)
*Local governments continue approving the construction of more data centers in Georgia. WFXG Fox 54 reports the Columbia County Board of Commissioners is the latest, voting on Tuesday night to rezone two areas in the metro Augusta area. The decision was met with opposition from residents.
*The Georgia Supreme Court (SCOGA) is considering capping jury verdicts in medical malpractice lawsuits. Supporters say caps prevent large verdicts, while opponents argue they harm families. The Supreme Court is expected to decide in July.
