Another extended stay hotel, more public housing?

Gainesville may be getting another extended stay motel and more public housing, according to the agenda for the March 11 meeting of the city’s planning and appeals board.

Aneesh Patel is asking to be allowed to use adjusted requirements for a two-acre site near Dawsonville Highway and Beechwood Boulevard. Patel wants the city to vary the minimum lot size requirement, buffer width and minimum number of parking spaces. He’s also requesting a special use permit. The lot is at the end of a private cul-de-sac.

The Gainesville Housing Authority also has an item on the agenda: a request to rezone 2.5 acres at the Jesse Jewell Parkway/Downey Boulevard intersection from Residential-II to Planned Unit Development (P-U-D) to clear the way for multi-family housing. There is already a 25-unit development, Jessee Jewell Apartments (pictured), at that intersection.
