A Conyers man, facing a long list of charges including DUI, remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday morning following a hit-and-run accident on Ga. 365 Monday afternoon.
The state patrol says James Carney, 54, was headed north when his vehicle struck the rear of another that was stopped due to traffic congestion. After the impact, the second driver pulled onto the shoulder of the highway, but Carney left the scene, according to the investigating trooper’s report.
However, he was arrested later and booked into the county jail Monday afternoon, about one-and-a-half hours after the accident. But the report does not say where and under what circumstances he was arrested, only that “the incident report has not been approved.”
No one was injured in the accident which happened near White Sulphur Road.
Carney, whose bond has been set at $9,080, is charged with:
DUI
OPEN CONTAINER VIOLATION
RESISTING ARREST
NOT USING SEAT BELT
FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY
UNSAFE TIRE CONDITIONS
NO PROOF OF MINIMUM INSURANCE
HIT-AND-RUN
