For the fourth time in a week, the South Hall-North Gwinnett area has been hit by an earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says this one was magnitude 2.2 at a depth of about five miles and was centered in Gwinnett County on the shores of Lake Lanier near Ansel Court and Lakeview Drive.
Two of the earlier quakes occurred overnight last Thursday both in Lake Lanier and in Hall County. The first measured 2.3 on the Richter Scale and was at a depth of about five miles. It occurred about 11:15, according to the USGS. The second happened about two hours later also at a depth of around five miles and measured 1.7.
Three days later, on Sunday night, another one occurred. It measured 2.0 and was centered on the shores of Lanier four km northwest of Buford at a depth of 1.3 km and near Ansel Court.
