For the third time this year and second time in less than a month, Habersham County has a confirmed case of rabies.
HABERSHAM CO. NEWS RELEASE:
“(Friday)…Habersham County Animal Care and Control responded to a complaint on
Level Grove in Cornelia…in reference to a skunk which was “acting aggressively”.
According to the report, the skunk had come into physical contact with a kitten as well as the caller. The skunk was already deceased at the time of Animal Controls’ arrival.
Habersham County Animal Control submitted the deceased skunk to the CDC State Laboratory for
rabies testing…Confirmation that the animal did have rabies was received by county officials Tuesday…”
