Details were released Wednesday by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office regarding a weekend arrest of an Alto man who was wanted by Gainesville Police and authorities in three other north Georgia jurisdictions.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“(Saturday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) charged Michael William Layer II…with a seatbelt violation and driving with a suspended license after he was stopped on Dawsonville Highway following a reported shoplifting incident in the city of Gainesville.
Just before 7 p.m., an HCSO deputy was on patrol in the area of Dawsonville Highway and Sardis Road when Hall County Dispatch informed him a vehicle related to the theft was traveling in that direction. The deputy spotted the vehicle, a 2010 Jeep Compass, traveling eastbound on Dawsonville Highway. The vehicle turned onto Venture Drive, and the deputy followed, initiating a traffic stop. A Gainesville PD officer arrived at the scene and arrested the driver, identified as Layer.
