(GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) – Hurricane Helene left an estimated one point $2.8 billion in damages to Georgia’s timber industry in its wake.
State forestry officials say the storm affected 8.9 million acres of Atlanta’s forests, making the storm Georgia’s largest natural disaster on record.
Losses encompassed a swath of the Peach State from Valdosta to Augusta after the storm brought generational damage both to timber suppliers and local economies.
