It’s no secret that kids love trains, well, most of them, it seems, and some adults, too, no doubts. And it’s no secret that for years, they, and usually their parents or grandparents, have been flocking to Oakwood to stand alongside the Norfolk-Southern line to catch one coming through. Now, the city appears on the verge of getting a Train Viewing Platform.
Talk of such a structure began several years ago as part of a plan to spruce up downtown.
Monday night, the city council is to consider authorizing construction of a Train Viewing Platform. This is the proposal that a Cumming company is offering the city (it has been edited for brevity and clarity):
“Herein is our proposal to provide building design + engineering services for the new train viewing platform, whistlestop shops, marketplace pavilion, and marketplace bath house based upon the prior conceptual studies and renderings…”
The company is Post Oak Partners.
