A very special Hall Co. July 4th this year

Fireworks, cookouts, picnics, family get-togethers. They are nothing new when it comes to celebrating July 4 every year. And for years the Gainesville American Legion has held a daylong celebration on the shores of Lake Lanier. But this year will be extra special because it’s the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.

“America’s 250th anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the principles upon which our nation was founded and the freedoms we continue to enjoy today,” Interim County Administrator John Gentry said. “The Hall County Fourth of July Celebration brings our community together to honor that legacy, recognize the service and sacrifice of our Veterans and first responders, and celebrate the values that continue to unite us as a community and as a nation.”

The event will feature music by DJ Simple Times, fireworks by Pyrotechnico over Lake Lanier at dusk, food vendors and family activities alongside access to all of Laurel Park’s amenities. Parking is $15 per vehicle, with all parking proceeds benefiting Veterans programs through the American Legion.

“Every fourth of July, Laurel Park becomes a place where families, friends, and neighbors come together to celebrate our nation’s independence,” said Brent Holloway, director of Hall County Parks & Community Services. “For many families, this celebration has become a tradition that spans generations. We’re proud to continue this tradition for our community by providing a safe, welcoming place where residents and visitors can celebrate Independence Day together.”

The Hall County Fourth of July Celebration is one of several local events recognizing America’s 250th anniversary. As communities across the county commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, this year’s celebration offers residents and visitors an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history while enjoying one of Hall County’s favorite Independence Day traditions.
