Sunday was cold, dark, and rainy and a day when many Habersham EMC customers in Habersham and White counties found themselves in the dark and maybe cold. That’s because the electric co-op experienced a power outage for most of the day in both counties.
About noon, this update was posted on Facebook:
“We anticipate having have phase 1 of restoration back up around 1:00 PM (with some customers coming back online), then phase 2 back up around 3:00 PM (with more customers coming back online) and phase 3 back up around 6:30 PM (all customers back online ).
We have several crews working in these conditions to restore all services. Again, these are estimated times based on what we know at this time.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”
And many people also were without Internet service.
A utility pole fire caused the outages.
