With all the rain we’ve had lately and continue to have, it may be hard to believe but the drought still has a hold on some parts of Georgia.
Once again, this week the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) is showing “abnormally” dry conditions in parts of ten counties along the Tennesse and North Carolina state lines from Towns in northeast Georgia to Chattooga in the northwest corner of the state.
The rest of the state remains drought-free. Three months ago, that was true of only 35 percent of Georgia.
The level of Lake Lanier, by the way, is half-a-foot above full pool which is 1071 this time of the year. It has slowly been refilling since the rain that has put a dent in the drought has been falling.
