Tadmore 3rd grader with a ‘mission’

She’s only a third-grader but a Tadmore Elementary 7-year-old has a mission none the less and she’s described in a Hall County Schools Facebook posting as “a shining example of courage and resilience… despite facing unimaginable challenges.”

A few years ago, Bella (last name withheld), was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of cancer behind her left eye. Though the treatment left her with damaged optic nerves and loss of vision, her spirit remained unbroken.

Last fall, Bella approached the Tadmore administration with a “heartfelt” mission: to raise awareness about childhood cancer.

Now, with the support of over 73 faculty and staff members, Bella’s vision is coming to life as they proudly wear “Going Gold for Bella” t-shirts. Thursday, International Childhood Cancer Day, the entire Tadmore student body joined in solidarity by wearing yellow – “showing their unwavering support” for Bella and all children battling cancer.
