AIKEN, S.C. – Greg Billups, Jr. led four Nighthawks in double figures as the No. 6 University of North Georgia men’s basketball team pulled away late for a 64-60 Peach Belt Conference road win at No. 21 USC Aiken on Wednesday.
Billups, Jr. tallied a team-best 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and a pair of three-point baskets. Frank Champion added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Cayden Charles and Giancarlo Bastianoni added 11 and 10 respectively.
The Nighthawks trailed by eight (52-44) with 6:19 remaining in the contest, but would use a quick 7-0 spurt to pull back to within a possession. A pair of free throws from Charles with 2:16 remaining in the game gave the Nighthawks the lead for good.
North Georgia’s defense held the Pacers to just 7-of-30 (23%) from behind the three-point line.
Simeon German led all scorers with 16 points and seven blocks.
North Georgia improves to 17-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play as the Nighthawks extend their winning streak to four games.
