Gas prices increased by eight cents a gallon for regular unleaded in Gainesville over the past week. The average price today is $2.99. The statewide average also bolted upward – by seven cents a gallon to $3.02.
While cost averages across the Peach State are up in January, things are pretty much even when compared to the same time last month. Costs are down by more than 30-cents-a-gallon from last year.
Meanwhile, the national average rose a penny to $3.10.
“…a slightly higher costs for oil,” is part of the reason for the increases, according to AAA. And the wars in the Middle East are not helping.
