A five-day trial in Banks County ended Friday with the conviction of a 35-year-old man who had been charged with concealing the death of his mother who went missing almost two years ago.
Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian announced in a news release that Jason Christopher Campbell was convicted of Concealing the Death of Another following a five-day trial.
“In the trial, the State presented evidence that Campbell did unlawfully conceal the death of his mother, Marie Campbell, by burning her body in January 2025,” Christian said. Campbell was sentenced to ten years in prison.
Campbel was arrested and charged with Concealing a Death a month after his 62-year-old mother was reported missing.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office was among several state, local and federal agencies that assisted in the investigation, Christian said. Christian did not say what role each of the agencies played in the investigation.
