A suspect in a 2024 child sexual exploitation case is now in the Hall County Jail.
Amari Javon Adams, 21, of Fayetteville, faces charges of statutory rape and sexual exploitation of children in a case involving a female victim, who was under the age of 12 at the time of the crime. Adams was 19 when the incident occurred.
It first came to light in March of 2025 when a relative of the victim contacted the Gainesville Police Department to report she had seen a video circulating on social media showing the victim and Adams engaged in sexual intercourse. During the course of police investigation, detectives determined the activity had occurred at a location outside the city but still in Hall County and the sheriff’s office took over the investigation.
“Over the course of the next three weeks, investigators confirmed the victim and Adams had met one another on a social media app in the spring of 2024,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said. “Adams traveled to Hall County from Fayette County to meet the victim for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. The investigation further determined Adams had recorded video of the acts.
“Investigators located a text message thread between Adams and the victim on an iPad belonging to the victim; they located the video among the text messages. Investigators obtained warrants for Adams’ arrest on May 23, 2025.”
Adams remained at large until Sunday, when he was booked at the Hall County Jail. He remains in custody with no bond.
